Nice. What did you use as a rinse?

I'm sorry to say that I'm unable to tell you all exactly how my neighbor/professional hairdresser, Mary, achieved that color. I know that she used her strongest semi-permanent dark burgundy rinse to get anything to show up over my dark brunette hair.

All I know is that she says that only professionals can get the stuff by salesperson directly, and it's not available in any of the beauty supply shops. It's a fair bet that it's a brand meant for, or caters to, African-Americans, however.

Mary says that - just as there is a world of difference between the first rinse an this second rinse - likewise the third rinse will, she says, be the rich dark burgundy that I wanted. Every rinse thereafter, will keep the color, which otherwise wash out eventually.

Thanks for sharing the info, Stephanie. I'll be really interested to see your pictures after the next rinse. How soon will that be? And how often will you have to refresh in order to maintain your look?

Mary thought it would wash out by two weeks, in my hair... but it lasted for almost six weeks. It was most vibrant within the first to weeks.

Mary is recommending every 4 weeks.

Since she is my second-nearest neighbor (next door to my next-door neighbor), and doesn't charge me, I tend to doubt that it's a money thing. lol
